A Rosatom subsidiary participated in “Extreme Robotics” conference
30.10.2026
The event featured discussions on the experience of implementing robotic systems and promising areas of automation in production processes within the nuclear industry.
On October 29, 2026, Rosatom IntelMash LLC (a subsidiary of Rosatom Service JSC, Rosatom Electric Power Division) presented results of its work on the robotization of nuclear industry enterprises at the International Scientific and Technical Conference “Extreme Robotics” which took place in Moscow.
Evgenia Vasina, Chief Project Engineer at Rosatom IntelMash LLC gave a presentation titled “Results of Robotization at Rosatom Enterprises” as part of the “Robotization of the Nuclear Industry” session. The speaker presented the main areas of industrial robotization projects and approaches to developing the engineering competencies necessary for their implementation. The presentation focused on a comprehensive approach to robotization: analyzing production processes, selecting operations for automation, and developing technical solutions taking into account the company process requirements. This approach makes it possible to align the implementation of robotic systems with specific goals for increasing productivity and ensuring consistent product quality.
“The robotization of enterprises in the nuclear industry represents a transition to a new model of production organization that integrates engineering solutions, digital technologies, and robotic systems into a single production loop. The main goal of this transition is to increase labor productivity and manufacturing efficiency. Today, we are developing a comprehensive approach that allows us to move from the isolated automation of individual operations to the creation of highly automated production chains—from raw material preparation to quality control and shipment of finished products. This transition is what drives exponential productivity growth, rather than isolated improvements in individual areas. One of the most promising areas is the creation of “smart factories,” where automation is integrated from the design phase and encompasses the entire production cycle. This approach opens up additional opportunities for productivity growth, ensures consistent product quality, and fosters the development of process expertise within the domestic industry” noted Evgenia Vasina.
The report presented the concept of a “smart factory” for the prefabrication of pipe assemblies. It involves the use of automation and robotics in the manufacture of pipe assemblies that require high standards of precision, quality, and traceability of manufacturing operations. The implementation of this concept is aimed at shortening the production cycle and reducing the labor intensity of manufacture of products.

The Electric Power Division of Rosatom State Corporation is the largest producer of low-carbon electric power in Russia. Rosenergoatom Concern JSC, the Division management company, operates 10 functioning nuclear power plants, including the world’s only floating nuclear power plant (FNPP). 34 power units with a total capacity of about 29.8 GW generate about 19 % of electricity in Russia. Division enterprises provide a full range of services for commissioning, repair, maintenance and training of personnel for nuclear power units; they produce isotopes for medicine, agriculture and microelectronics; new areas of activity are actively developing within its framework (development of a network of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, biogas stations, production of industrial robots, etc.).
Rosatom Service JSC (part of the Electric Power Division of Rosatom State Corporation) provides servicing to energy facilities in various power industries. The company is present in almost every country with operating VVER NPP outside Russia. The geography of Rosatom Service JSC projects covers more than 15 countries around the world, from Europe to Asia. The references of Rosatom Service JSC include comprehensive projects for service life extension, maintenance and repair, supply of equipment and SPTA, nuclear infrastructure, consulting services, and training. Since 2022, the company has been actively developing the areas of renewable energy: small hydropower, biogas reactors, landfill gas. The BOOТ (build-own-operate-trade) model is implemented as a priority. Rosatom Service JSC references in the renewable energy sources sector include the design of a cascade of hydroelectric power plants in Bulgaria, HPP for an isolated power consumer in Kyrgyzstan, and the supply of equipment for the Segozerskaya HPP in Karelia. In the near future, the company is also planning to take the position of a key business participant in the construction of high-capacity bioreactors, implementing the Rosatom State Corporation’s development strategy using “green energy”. As part of the “Robotics” business line, the company offers services for the design and manufacture of robotic systems and other non-standard equipment for nuclear industry enterprises and beyond. rosatom-service.ru

Russian industry faces the goal of ensuring process sovereignty and transition to the latest domestic technologies in the shortest possible time. The state and large domestic companies are channeling resources to accelerate the development of the domestic research, infrastructure, and scientific and process base. Together with the human resource development, the introduction of innovations and new high-tech equipment allows Rosatom and its enterprises to occupy new niches in the market, increasing the competitiveness of the nuclear industry and the Russian industry as a whole.
