The forum featured discussions on approaches to implementing robotics to boost business productivity

Alpha Summit, an event organized by Alfa-Bank that brought together representatives of large and medium-sized businesses from key sectors of the Russian economy, concluded in St. Petersburg. The forum featured a session titled “AI, data, and robots: how to boost business productivity?” Maksim Vinokurov, Deputy General Director for Robotics at Rosatom Service JSC (part of the Electric Power Division of the Rosatom State Corporation) participated in the session.

Maksim Vinokurov commented on where to start with robotization in a company: “You can start with a small and straightforward solution: deploy the first robot to a separate work area, let the team work with it, and gain practical insight into where the technology is truly useful. This approach is known at Rosatom as “robotization inoculation”.

According to Maxim Vinokurov, automation should not be pursued for the sake of short-term gains, but rather when there is a clear, long-term business goal—for example, to significantly increase output or capture a larger market share; in that case, it becomes part of the transformation of production, rather than a standalone project.

For reference:

The Electric Power Division of Rosatom State Corporation is the largest producer of low-carbon electric power in Russia. Rosenergoatom Concern JSC, the Division management company, operates 11 functioning nuclear power plants, including the world’s only floating nuclear power plant (FNPP). 33 power units with a total capacity of 28.5 GW already generate about 19 % of electricity in Russia. Division enterprises provide a full range of services for commissioning, repair, maintenance and training of personnel for nuclear power units; they produce isotopes for medicine, agriculture and microelectronics; new areas of activity are actively developing within its framework (development of a network of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, biogas stations, production of industrial robots, etc.) rosenergoatom.ru

Rosatom Service JSC (part of the Electric Power Division of Rosatom State Corporation) provides servicing to energy facilities in various power industries. The company is present in almost every country with operating VVER NPP outside Russia. The geography of Rosatom Service JSC projects covers more than 15 countries around the world, from Europe to Asia. The references of Rosatom Service JSC include comprehensive projects for service life extension, maintenance and repair, supply of equipment and SPTA, nuclear infrastructure, consulting services, and training. Since 2022, the company has been actively developing the areas of renewable energy: small hydropower, biogas reactors, landfill gas. The BOOТ (build-own-operate-trade) model is implemented as a priority. Rosatom Service JSC references in the renewable energy sources sector include the design of a cascade of hydroelectric power plants in Bulgaria, HPP for an isolated power consumer in Kyrgyzstan, and the supply of equipment for the Segozerskaya HPP in Karelia. In the near future, the company is also planning to take the position of a key business participant in the construction of high-capacity bioreactors, implementing the Rosatom State Corporation’s development strategy using “green energy”. As part of the “Robotics” business line, the company offers services for the design and manufacture of robotic systems and other non-standard equipment for nuclear industry enterprises and beyond. rosatom-service.ru

Rosatom Intelmash LLC is the industry-specific robotics integrator for the Rosatom State Corporation and a subsidiary of Rosatom Service JSC. The company develops and implements comprehensive industrial automation and robotics solutions for enterprises in the nuclear industry, critical infrastructure, and other strategic sectors of the Russian economy. rosatom-intelmash.ru
